Inherent Sound Experience

United Way Resilient Sound Experience

 The Sound of
Well-being:
One powerful modality to begin to support and empower our community in the alleviation and management of stress is Sound Healing. This is a passive form of restoration and healing. Also referred to as constructive rest.

Sound Healing creates an environment where participants are supported via sound and vibration to shift from a sympathetic (flight/flight/stress) state to a parasympathetic (rest/digest/relaxation) state. To calm the body and mind. In doing so the body is more inclined to heal and release stress and strain. This modality does not require movement, which makes it accessible to a diverse audience. The atonal sounds of the instruments and techniques utilized throughout Sound Healing have been found to support the mediation process and make its benefits more attainable. Sound interacts powerfully with our body at the deepest cellular level.

Additionally, Sound Experiences include the teaching of breathing techniques. This empowers participants to tap into practices they can incorporate into their daily lives. They can experience relaxation not only during a sound experience, but also far beyond the session. The final outcome and hope is that they will not be controlled by stress and suffer the negative mental, emotional and physical impacts it has proven to cause. This provides a place for all individuals to cultivate their well being.

Our goal is to provide a brave space for the community partners of United Way to gain access to relaxation, healing from trauma and mediation skills. Aiming to give access that would otherwise not be attainable and reach diverse communities to share a therapeutic modality that can cultivate individual healing, growth and wellness.

Flow into the Experiences

Experiences start with an explanation of meditative sound followed by a breathing exercise to help ease into a state of relaxation. Then the Sound Experience commences. This will take up the bulk of the time. Once completed participants will be mindfully guided out of the experience and be able to integrate and ask questions about their experience with facilitator.

Levels of Experiences

At the most basic level, participants will be invited to relax and disconnect from their day-to-day stressors, experiencing the benefits of deep rest.

At the most dynamic level, participants will experience healing and support in their individual emotions, the processing of emotions and experiences tied to them.

Participants will learn the importance of self-care and creating a practice and habit of mediation. They will leave with knowledge and techniques on how to identify their emotional and physical state and respond via breathing and mediation techniques to support themselves.

There is no right or wrong way to participate in Sound Healing; every individual will have a unique experience and be supported throughout.
